Mixed Bertie Botts bag sort of day

Looks like dA is getting into the Halloween spirit!
Unsuspecting, you browse the gallery page, but then
everything is shaken up and a deviation is replaced with
a ghost! Interesting scripting.  I would have been more
surprised, but... I kind of got distracted when the
shaking up thing happened...  xD
★★★★★★★★★★★★★CRAFT  STUFF ★★★★★★★

Despite not being in the best emotional or physical state today (having scary dreams/minor tiff with a good friend/stomach upset/sore eyes/bad headache at the moment, respectively), it was still a pretty productive day.  Today was the first day that I got to work at my new craft table, so I worked on things all day:

  • A fleur de lis pendant keychain for my sister's upcoming 21st birthday next week,
  • A couple of cell phone strap keychains for my friend Mitsuki (going to have her choose which one she likes best),
  • A few necklaces and a keychain to possibly sell
  • Finally started to glaze my chibi Hong Kong figurine that I haven't touched in a long time

Normally, I'd have more photos to show, but they're currently being recovered, which brings me to my next section...

PROGRAM:  PC INSPECTOR SMART RECOVERY

After a long day of working at my new craft table and taking photos AWESOME Halloween-ish moon, I went to lie in bed to look over all the photos before uploading them.  Cue:  series of unfortunate mishaps.  Next thing I know, half my photos from today are gone.  With a bad headache, I trudge online to look for information on how to recover accidentally deleted photos from memory cards.  The first two "free" programs that I found were trials where you could scan and recover the deleted files from your camera/card/disk, but would need to pay around $30-40 to actually save them.

Simple line drawing, but so relateable

A while later, I found a photography blog post that led me to cnet's (talk about a sight for literally sore eyes!) download page for PC Inspector Smart Recovery, "a data-recovery program for Flash Card, Smart Media, Sony Memory Stick, IBM Micro Drive, Multimedia Card, and Secure Digital Card. The software will bring back deleted pictures from any digital camera media."  HALLELUJAH~!
...but of course, I knew better than to celebrate just then.  With bated breath, I downloaded it, installed it, and oh?  fjdsjfglsjgsgajal.  " 'Run-time error 339 Component 'gif89.dll' or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered. File is missing or invalid' "  I then tried to re-download it, repair, uninstall, then re-install it... No dice.  Ready to give up, I decided to comb through the rating comments for answers.... BINGO!

According to user johnplum, this error message appears... until you right click it and run as an administrator. Voila.  I'm currently in the process of recovering the files.  It's taking a while, but hey, it's working! (ok, so maybe I'm wishing that it wouldn't recover ALL of the files, but beggars can't be choosers... or choosy, for that matter.  So I'll take the slow process time in stride)  And now I know how to recover deleted files!  (Knowledge is power, right?)  So while the rest of the files are being recovered...

SAMURAI WARRIORS: CHRONICLES

pwning feudal Japan from the comfort of my bed
Last night, I finally got to play one of the games that my friend was so kind as to include with the sale of his 3DS, Samurai Warriors: Chronicles.  Even with the 3D settings turned off on the top screen, I was happy to see that the graphics and gameplay were actually quite decent.  I haven't gotten past the 4th or so battle, so I still have to get used to having to be more strategic about alternating between several different characters to complete timed missions, but I'm pleased with the ability to merge weapons to improve their stats.

ANIMAL CROSSING: WIDE WORLD

It was a clear and starry sky.  Nookington and the Able Sister's shops were long closed, so I decided to get my brain into a more relaxed and sleepy (and non-Musou-ing) mode by simply walking around, listening to my favorite late night/early morning music while watering dying flowers, and.... ASDFGHJKL, a shooting star while I'm holding my watering can.  Ah, oh well.  After un-equipping it and waiting for a long time, nothing.  After giving up and going to water flowers again.... YEP.  JLDSAjjfjdlfjadlsaaljdjada.

SO after that, I decided to just wait as long as it took for another shooting star, and just stood there by the ocean for a while, just gazing at the sky and listening to the music and the gentle lull of the waves...  and today, I got a letter from Wishy!  <3  Thanks for the blue dresser!  (can I have an exotic table next time, though...?)

Beware of the Staplers

( x)3

I saw this duck emote today for the first time.  I don't know why, but I found it to be stupidly cute.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, iTouch/iPhone auto-correct makes for hilarious conversations (and future in-jokes):

"Well staplers aren't there for your location... They're interested in getting watching you I guess."
-------
"Why are they called staplers?  If they can use binoculars they can read."
-------
"No I asked you why u called them staplers and not staplers"
(a few seconds later)
"Stalkers*.  Though I may have answered myself since it autocorrected to staplers"

Light as air, soft, fluffy, sweet-salty.  Doesn't leave a very good first impression, but strangely addictive. Not nearly good (or cute!) as Caramel Corn, though.

 ANIMAL CROSSING: WILD WORLD

After firing up my game for the first time in a year or two, I then spent the next hour or two chasing down all the cockroaches in my house and de-weeding my town.  It seems that several of my favorite villagers have long since moved out, but I was very pleased to see that at least Nan and Bones stayed, and that I now have Rosie and a super cute white dog by the name of Daisy.  ♥

In the process of hunting down weeds, I ran into a cat with a very disturbing face (and even more disturbing design).....  so I redesigned it!

A gift, huh?... Maybe you should be more careful about
the types of "gifts" you accept...

What is this, I don't even...

And my redesign.  It's better, right? ..... RIGHT?

Today, I redesigned my town flag, and Nan came over!  >w<

iTouch/smart phone/Android App: PingChat

"PingChat! lets you send and receive instant messages, pictures, video, locations and voice notes with your data plan or wifi connection.
PingChat! makes it easy for friends to stay connected! We are currently available on the Android, Blackberry and iOS platforms. This means that PingChat! can be installed on hundreds of different devices! Seamless integration allows users to chat smoothly across all platforms. "   -http://pingchat.com/features/
Today, a friend of mine recommended PingChat to me for my messaging needs, so with his help, I took it for a test spin.

Messaging options pictured:
1.  Regular text messages
2.  Audio messaging/recording (up to 30 seconds)
For Android users, you can even send video clips on your device!
3.  Video messaging/recording  (unknown size limit)

There's a coffee cup emote, Habib.
Location sending:  You can send any location
to your friends and family.  (Your house, where
you are, where a restaurant is, etc.)

Pretty awesome, right?  I had a lot of fun tonight trying out all the features with my friend.  The only downside?  You can only use these features with people who have PingChat downloaded (unlike TextFree, which allows you to text, message, and call* those without TextFree).

So if I don't find at least 1-2 more friends who can message me with this, all of it will be to message one person.  And I don't really have a whole lot of space left on my iTouch. Ok, I'll just say it outright.  HABIB AND FRIENDS!  PLEASE DOWNLOAD THIS SO WE CAN HAVE CRAZY GOOD TIMES (for free, too)!  B)

Halloween begins on Gaia

My friend Justin:  "more like a breaking up pendant"
-----------------------------------
So.  Waking up this morning to a sore, slightly swollen, and stiff body in decidedly unpleasant weather conditions was admittedly not a very fun thing to do.  Lucky for me, though, things unexpectedly went in a thankfully upwards direction for the rest of the day, starting with a simple text of just 2 words [and 2 symbols].  =^w^=

Next mood boosters came when I checked the mail.  A package from China, and a letter from Minnesota from an address that I wasn't familiar with (which turned out to be a letter written by 2 of my favorite Minnesotans  <33).  And the package?  Yep.  My measuring spoons finally decided that its vacation was finally over and went back to its original task of being delivered.  Yay.

Right off the bat, I noticed a few.... interesting things about my measuring spoons.

1.  Although clearly measuring spoons, its packaging label mysteriously reads SPATULA.

2.  On the upper right-hand corner of the packaging, Korean characters are seen, yet the sticker label says, "Made in China."

3.  Increments:  1 ml, 5 ml, 15 ml, 50 ml, 100 ml.

....okay.  Nothing super strange about #2, I guess, but I don't feel very apt to trust any information on a package of measuring spoons that's prominently labeled "SPATULA."  #justsaying
(To anyone who is wondering, I have non-food intents for these measuring spoons.  xD  )

GAIA
kitaaaa~!! My mood soared to even higher levels when I logged on Gaia and soon found out that the 2011 Halloween event had started!  I started off by doing a much-anticipated round of Trick or Treating at the shops.  I must say, I really enjoyed seeing all the NPC's costumes this year!  I couldn't wait for that minute or so before clicking the next shop in line and seeing what the next NPCs were dressed up as.  Here are some of my favorites:

Notice the first picture?  It's TETSUKO from Gintama.  --> "This is why I love you, Gaia" moment
Radio Jack Kyuubei is pretty kick @$$ too.  Kanako makes a shockingly good Yui.
Wow.  BRS?... a tan BRS with blue hair and sizable chest?... and I can't believe how mainstream it got.
Agatha as Professor McGonagall?  -->"This is why I love you, Gaia" moment redux
Edmund makes a pretty damn cool Assassin.  o.o

FACEBOOK

Facebook has been getting creepier.  Seriously.  Stop being such a creeper.  :|

about Halloween."                                                                             updates?...  = x = ;;

TUMBLR

Today, I was introduced to Memebon by her self-proclaimed #1 fan, and after scrolling through all 13 heart-melting pages of her awesome Memebon tumblr, I now have my own picture folder dedicated solely to those photos.  I'll also be randomly revisiting it to look through all the Memebon cuteness after what may be considered to be short intervals of time.  @ A @;

TIBIA
No Tibia today. I did, however, finally get to talk to my friend about it... and found out that I pretty much chose the wrong hometown, all the way on the other side of the continent from where he is.  orz  Sorry...
But it looks like my first adventure on the mainland continent sure is going to be a big one!  (to be cont.)

ANIMAL CROSSING
Also!  Talking today with aforementioned friend on Skype chat, we decided that we NEEDED to play Animal Crossing together.  After settling on Animal Crossing: Wild World, my first thought was that every free square inch of my town must be covered in weeds.  And later, it occurred to me that my house must be absolutely FILLED with those gross cockroaches...  Well, time to start weeding and exterminating!  Even though I had played AC: WW religiously for almost 3-4 years after purchasing it, it's been at least a year or two since I've turned it on... I hope that all my favorite neighbors haven't moved out!  *animal crossing blubbing animation*
